Field camp

My undergraduate field Camp experience was completed through Bowling Green State University during the summer of 2012. At BGSU, field camp consists of a six-week field course in the Basin and Range, Colorado Plateau, and Rocky Mountain provinces counting for 6 credits.

During the course, I learned how to interpret outcrops, construct geologic maps and stratigraphic columns, analyze structural folds and faults, and analyze slope stability. We used Brunton compasses, ruggedized tablet PC computers, GPS receivers, aerial photographs, topography maps, satellite images, and GIS databases to conduct the excercises.

In addition to course work, we also got to white water raft in Colorado, hike the second tallest mountain in the lower 48 (Mt. Massive), run down the Great Sand dunes in Colorado, relax in natural hot springs, shop in Sante Fe, NM, and countless other experiences. The slideshow below is an attempt to depict how awesome an experience I had during field camp
